Drive 02:48
I had a dream, a two-seater machine with the top down, Out on a cruise, put the pedal to use and escape this town, Clinging to a black top ribbon, Hugging every asphalt curve, Painted lines, broken and solid, Flashing by in a yellow blur, I could Drive, drive like I'm driven to do, Drive, drive 'til that dream is in view To the Pacific or nowhere specific, I hardly care, As long as I'm moving then nothing needs proving, I'll get somewhere, Pointed to the sunset, maybe, I could see some western beach Tear across the prairies flat out, The whole world is in my reach, if I Drive, drive like I'm driven to do, Drive, drive 'til that dream is in view On the horizon, the Rockies are risin' I'm getting close, Winding and snaking through mountains I'm making my run to the coast, Only two or three more hours To the sun and sea and sand All the voltage and horsepower Gets me to the edge of land, when I Drive, drive like I'm driven to do, Drive, drive 'til that dream is in view Gonna drive, drive like I'm driven to do, Drive, drive 'til that dream is in view

Some Life 02:45
Did you ever stop to wonder, As you turned into a number, If they ever had your best interests at heart? Or were you just being harvested for parts? Like some lunatic, Working yourself sick, For some glass and bricks, Some life. They dangle out the carrot, And exaggerate the merits, Of chasing hollow dreams filled with receipts, And your training keeps you craving the deceit, Like some lunatic, Working yourself sick, For some glass and bricks, Some life. That's some life you're living there, on a treadwheel to nowhere, Nowhere fast. You could have been a clever lad, had you had it with being had, Had your chance. For your financial scheming, And materialistic dreaming, You got nothing but a credit bill to show, And a weekend with your office work in tow, Like some lunatic, Working yourself sick, For some glass and bricks, Some life. That's some life you're living there, on a treadwheel to nowhere, Nowhere fast. You could have been a clever lad, had you had it with being had, Had your chance. It seems the sole conclusion, Is that you've been in collusion, Unknowingly as they pull on your strings, And you line up Boxing Day for useless things, Like some lunatic, Working yourself sick, For some glass and bricks, Some life, Some life, Some life.

Forgive me if I seem so sardonic I'm not bitter as what's in this gin and tonic Now I've become so, so irate, it's so ironic As we cross the line from pleasure to platonic But I'm not bitter, I've seen it all before No I'm not bitter, if anything I'm bored Ice cubes melting and so is my enthusiasm Toast the opening of one final chasm I'll endeavour to swallow my sarcasm While overlooking the "why for"s and "wheras-ims". But I'm not bitter, I've seen it all before No I'm not bitter, if anything I'm bored Can't lay the blame, there's nothing wrong with you, Nothing wrong with me. But suffice to say, that in a way, There's something wrong with us I feel compromised by my position Guaranteed to be a hit-and-miss proposition Before you reload your verbal ammunition Keep in mind one thing: I don't plan to listen But I'm not bitter, I've seen it all before No I'm not bitter, if anything I'm bored But I'm not bitter, I've seen it all before No I'm not bitter, if anything I'm bored

How do you drag humankind, kicking and screaming out of its past? How do you spark its enlightenment? How do you make sure the glimmer lasts? There's nothing to dread, in setting the world… …Ahead, the old mindsets arise, like primitive walls that keep us in place, How do we scale them or knock them down? One more break for the human race? There's nothing to dread, in setting the world ahead Setting the world ahead 'cause it's time, Set it ahead, because it's behind Setting the world ahead How do you open their eyes, replace the old myths with visible facts? How do you spotlight the obvious? Re-direct them on how to act? There's nothing to dread, in setting the world ahead Setting the world ahead 'cause it's time, Set it ahead, it's fallen behind Setting the world ahead, Now we may be down to the wire, we've Dug ourselves so deep in this pyre, we Better come up, with some solutions, kick off revolution and save what is left. How do you sound the alarm, and make sure the snooze button's not tapped? How will we make it from here to there? Will we collapse or will we adapt? There's nothing to dread, in setting the world ahead Setting the world ahead 'cause it's time, Set it ahead, it's too far behind Setting the world ahead to awake Set it ahead, whatever it takes Setting the world ahead Setting the world ahead Setting the world ahead Please set the world ahead

The halo around the streetlight from the fog that's rolling in, Does nothing to demystify the glistening on your skin. And a second competing halo from a candle half burned out, Makes you look almost angelic, not that there was any doubt. Would it harm us all that much, Pretend we'd never lost that touch, And maybe, maybe we'll save ourselves from us. The jazz radio station might be playing some Coltrane, But it's hard to hear it clearly, now the fog's been joined by rain. And I'm trying not to focus on our latest compromise, Or the ticket on your luggage, 'cause it's not just time that flies. Would it harm us all that much, Pretend we'd never lost that touch, And maybe, maybe we'll save ourselves from us. "Once more for old time's sake", seems to be our mating call, As if time is running out now, when it only used to crawl. Now our future is uncertain, and our history is blurred, But you've re-defined the present, without uttering a word. Would it harm us all that much, Pretend we'd never lost that touch, And maybe, maybe we'll save ourselves from us. Just maybe, Maybe we'll save ourselves, From us.

A clean page before me, like a child's mind, So many ways to fill up the space, I've got my diploma, got my degree, Sharpen my hatchet, let's see you match it I'll give you a place to bury your face, Read what I've written, now you've been smitten, I am no hack, but I'll stretch the facts, To fill out the dailies, it's never failed me, A clean page before me, like a toy truck, Fill it with candy, fill it with sand, we Know how to sell you what you want to hear, Take a subscription to a media tradition, Here at the trough, we try to come off, Politically correct, well, we all know that sex sells, Call me some time, if you know a crime, You can have your fame, as a source unnamed, A clean page before me, I'm pleading the first, License to swill, to scoop and to spill, My mind is made up, uncluttered by truth, Dishonest depiction of my next victim, A blow I could smote, misprinting a quote, I can repaint you, tarnish and taint you, To contemplate less, I'd have to confess, I wouldn't try it, 'cause no one would buy it.
